39 bovines rescued, two smugglers arrested



KATHUA: A breakthrough was achieved by Lakhanpur police by foiling major bovine smuggling bid and rescuing more than 3 dozen bovines.
As per details, a police team under supervision of SHO Lakhanpur Inspector Sanjeev Chib, during routine Naka checking, intercepted a suspicious truck (UP12AT-5358) for checking, driven by Ramnik Singh, son of Harnaik Singh, resident of R S Pura and accompanied by Bilal Ahmed, son of Basar Din, resident of Hadalpura, Nowshera. On checking of vehicle, 23 bovines were found laden in the vehicle without legal permission, which were rescued. Both the accused were arrested on the spot. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 03/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA was registered in concerned Police Station and investigation was set into motion. In another instance, Lakhanpur Police succeeded in foiled bovine smuggling bid at another checking point where aforementioned police team intercepted another truck (JK02AS-9583), whose driver fled away from spot leaving his truck. On thorough checking of ehicle, 16 bovines were found laden in it. Acting swiftly, police team rescued bovines and seized the vehicle on spot. A case vide FIR No. 04/2021 under section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA was registered by police.
