Jammu: In a massive drive against bovine smuggling, Police has rescued 25 bovines at different Nakas established in the jurisdiction of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and Police Post Sidhra and also seized 7 vehicles, six seized by Police Station Jhajjar Kotli (JK02AV 7394, JK02BT/6315, JK14C/9659, JK21C/4921, JK02BV/7819 and JK08D/5191) while a vehicle (JK11E-0588) was seized by Police Post Sidhra.In this regard, different FIR No. 130, 131 & 132/2021 under sections 188 of IPC were registered in Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and Police Post Sidhra. Seven drivers, identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Subhash Chander, resident of Mago Wali R S Pura; Happy Chowdhary, son of Balwant Raj, resident of Chak Hiran Tehsil Ramgarh; Ghulam Rasool, son of Ajub Khan, resident of Dhalpur Udhampur; Gurmeet Singh, son of Avtar Singh, resident of Jerda Tehsil Ramgarh; Sadiq Mohd, son of Abhi Mohd, resident of Gajansoo Tehsil Marh and Kamaljeet, son of Des Raj, resident of Chhowhai Tehsil Ramgarh, were arrested by Police Station Jhajjar Kotli while Irshad Hussain, son of Mohd Hussain, resident of Bajalta Tehsil & District Jammu was arrested by Police Post Sidhra.The arrests and recoveries have been made by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Insp Devinder Singh and Incharge Police Post Sidhra SI Shakil Ahmad under supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh. Further investigations of cases are going on.Meanwhile, acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a party of Police Station Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NH Tapyal, Ghagwal signaled a truck (JK02AU-2967) coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley, to stop.Instead of stopping vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed of vehicle and fled away from spot. The alert cops successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it a few meters away from Naka point. However, the driver managed to escape.During checking of vehicle, 13 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission, which were rescued. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized and FIR No. 145/2021 under sections 188 of IPC, 11 of PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal.
