34 bovines rescued, 3 smugglers arrested

SAMBA: Police on Wednesday foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 34 bovines and arrested 3 smugglers in three separate incidents under jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal and Samba. Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Valley, a party led by SHO Ghagwal Kuldeep Raj laid a Naka at NH Tapyal and intercepted a Mahindra vehicle (JK21G-4180). During checking, 4 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission, which were rescued. The accused, identified as Vishal Khara, son of Ram Chand, resident of Swankha, Tehsil Vijaypur and District Samba was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 50/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered against him at Police Station Ghagwal. Similarly in another incident, a party from Police Post Rakh Amb-Talli, while performing routine checking duty, signaled a truck (JK02AJ-6457) heading towards Samba, to stop. On seeing Naka party, the driver accelerated speed of vehicle and tried to flee from spot. But alert cops, after a successful chase, apprehended the driver along with truck after a few meters away from Naka point. During checking of vehicle, a total of 16 bovines were found laden inside it. The accused driver identified as Amarjeet Singh, son of Bachan Singh, resident of R S Pura was arrested on spot and a case vide FIR No. 72/2021 under section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered against him at Police Station Samba. Later, a party from Police Station Ghagwal rescued 14 bovines at Naka NH Tapyal, which were being transported in a truck (PB10CE-5938) towards Valley.
The accused driver, identified as Sukhdev Singh, son of Narnjan Singh, resident of Sanjay Gandhi Colony, Ludhiana, Punjab was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 51/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered against him at Police Station Ghagwal.
