Srinagar: A 30-Kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered by security forces at Tangpura Bandh in Srinagar district last evening, army said on Tuesday. As per details, a major terrorist attack was averted when an IED was detected by ‘Explosive Detection Dog’ at Tangpura Bandh on outskirts of Srinagar.“Based on specific inputs, search operation was launched by Ganderbal based Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, JKP and CRPF in Tangpura on 19 July 2021 at around 1800 hours,” a spokesman of army said. The operation lead to recovery of an IED weighing proximately 30-Kg, placed near Tangpura Bandh which is just 700 meters away from Highway, the spokesman said. The IED was safely destroyed by Army Bomb Squad, he said. “Timely recovery of IED thwarted nefarious design of terrorists and their supporters to destabilise security situation in valley,” he added.
