24 bovines rescued, smuggler held

KATHUA: To thwart conspiracies of bovine smugglers, Kathua police succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling bid near Satkey Chak Naka and rescued 18 bovines. The vehicle used in the crime was seized and smuggler was arrested.
As per details, during wee hours of March 6, 2021, a party of Police Station Kathua under supervision of SHO Vijay Kumar while on Naka checking duty near Satkey Chak signaled a truck (JK02BR-9717) for checking. On seeing police, the driver stopped truck far behind the Naka point and fled away from the spot. During checking of the said vehicle, 18 bovines were found loaded in vehicle, which were rescued. A case vide FIR No. 113/2021 under sections 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered at Police Station Kathua.
Meanwhile, Nagrota Police laid a Naka at Nagrota and succeeded in rescuing bovines. Two vehicles Mahindra bearing (JK02BJ/7340) and Load Carrier (JKO2BW/0139) were also seized. A bovine smuggler namely Mohd Mureed, son of Ab Gani, resident of Tringla, Batote was arrested and a case vide FIR under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Nagrota. The arrest was made by a Police party led by SHO Nagrota Insp Mohd Shoket under supervision of SDPO Nagrota S Parupkar Singh and Sanjay Sharma SO Rural Jammu.
