SAMBA: Police on Tuesday foiled various attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 24 bovines in four separate incidents. Three bovine smugglers were also arrested by police.As per details, acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Kashmir, a party of police Station Ghagwal laid a vehicle checking Naka at NH, Tapyal and intercepted a Tata Mobile (JK02AF-9028) which was coming from Kathua and moving towards Valley. During checking of vehicle, 5 bovines were found laden inside it. The bovines were concealed in a tactful manner to avoid being noticed by police during checking. The accused driver identified as Abdul Razaq, son of Bishar Ahmed, resident of Palai, Hiranagar, Kathua was arrested on spot and a case vide FIR No. 07/2021 under Section of 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered against him at Police Station Ghagwal.In another incident, a team of Police Station Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking at Naka NH Tapyal signaled a vehicle without registration number to stop. Instead of stopping vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and tried to escape Naka, but alert cops successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it a few metres away from the Naka point, however driver managed to escape taking advantage of darkness. During checking of truck, 5 bovines were found laden inside without permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized. In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 08/2021 under Section 188 of IPC and 11 of PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal.Meanwhile, a team of Police Station Samba acting on reliable information, laid a vehicle checking Naka at Mansar Morh and intercepted a Truck (JK02AK-0979) moving towards Valley. The driver, on seeing Police abandoned vehicle and fled from the spot. During checking, 14 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle which were rescued. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 18/2021 under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Samba.Khour Police also arrested two persons for illegally transporting bovines. Based on a tip off, Khour police laid a Naka under the supervision of SHO Balwinder Singh and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No JK20A-1006, which was found loaded with bovines. Since, the driver and his assistant were illegally carrying animals, they failed to gave a satisfactory reply or produce any document permitting them to carry these bovines. Police arrested both accused identified as Hamid Mohd, resident of Sungal and Mohd Mushtaq, resident of Gandharwan and booked them under Section 188 of IPC.
