2 LeT terrorist associates arrested for grenade attack



SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday solved a grenade-attack case and arrested 2 LeT terrorist associates. As per details, on December 12, 2020 at around 1805 hrs unknown terrorists hurled a hand-grenade towards Police Post Bus Stand which missed intended target and exploded outside Police Post, resulting in injuries to three civilians.
Accordingly a case FIR No. 349/2020 was registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation was set into motion. During the course of investigation 02 suspects namely Mohd Asif Najar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, resident of Noor Bagh Sopore and Sahil Rashid Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, resident of Green Town Sopore were apprehended.
During questioning they confessed that they are working for LeT outfit as Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and had thrown grenade on Police Post Bus Stand on directions of LeT terrorists. The duo also confessed that they were desirous to join terrorist ranks but before that a hand grenade was handed over to them with the directions to throw it on any security force/ Police establishment in Sopore area, after which they finally threw on Police Post Bus Stand. Both were arrested in the instant case and are presently on Police remand. Further investigation is going on.
