JAMMU: A number of social and political organisations held functions and series of activities to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Jammu on Saturday, during which rich tributes were paid to the great freedom fighter of the country.

Congress paid rich tributes to great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 125th birth anniversary. While paying tributes, senior Congress leaders recalled his great contributions in freedom struggle of country. They said that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was a revolutionary par excellence who took struggle for independence beyond Indian borders. Prominent among those who paid tributes to the great leader included PCC Vice Presidents Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, Kanta Bhan, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, General Secretaries Th Balwan Singh & Th Manmohan Singh, former Ministers Yogesh Sawhney (Jammu Urban), Shabir Ahmed Khan (DCCP Rajouri), Hari Singh Chib (DCCP Jammu Rural), Ch Abdul Ghani (DCCP Poonch), Th Shiv Dev Singh (Ex-MLA), Gurdarshan Singh, Suresh Dogra, Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC), Rajesh Sadhotra (Seva Dal), Shashi Sharma, Pawan Raina, Ashwani Puri, Pankaj Dogra, Sanjeev Panda, Sanjeev Sharma, Iqbal Dar, Krishan Lal Gupta, Narinder Gupta, Gajan Singh, Ritu Chowdhury, Vandana Makhnotra, Dr R K Khajuria, Col Swarn Singh, Tirth Bhagat, Corporators Bhanu Mahajan, Sobat Ali, Gourav Chopra, Inderjeet kour, Mouddin Khemu, Pritam Singh, Rashpal Bhardwaj, Sahil Sharma, Karan Bhagat, Sonu Dogra, Ram Mangotra, Pawan Singh, Ravinder Singh, Mohan Choudhary, Chander Prabha, Romesh Mottan, Shil Sharma, Gurmeet Kour, Kuldeep Sharma, Rajdev Singh and Sham Motton.

District Congress Committee Jammu – Urban held a meeting to celebrate 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at District Congress office, Jammu. The leaders paid floral tribute to the leader in remembrance of his great legacy as a national hero and freedom fighter. Former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney, General Secretary JKPCC chaired the meeting. Commemorating the great hero, Sawhney talked about Bose’s role in championing Azad Hind Fauj and fighting for India’s freedom with vigour and might. “Netaji’s defiant patriotism and unyielding determination for ‘Swaraj’ and ‘Azaadi’ made him a hero. On his birth anniversary, we remain grateful to him and remember his legacy with utmost respect,” Sawhney added.
Others present on the occasion included Madan Lal Malager, Dr Ramakant Khajuria, Pawan Dev Singh, Varinder Manhas, Uttam Singh Chib, Rajesh Sharma, Chander Shekhar Sharma, Atul Sharma, Vijay Chib, Vijay Singh, Jatin Vashisht, Anand Gandotra, Ram Magotra and Rakesh Sharma.
The 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was celebrated with great enthusiasm by Jammu Kashmir Freedom Fighters Memorial Association (FFMA) at Subhas Chandra Bose Statue Chowk, Maheshpura Jammu to remember great freedom fighter. Those present on the occasion included R C Puri President FFMA, Ved Gandotra Chairman, Rajiv Mahajan Vice-Chairman, Karnail Chand, Sukhminder Singh Maini, Pritam Sharma, J J Singh (Rimple), Ravinder Mittal, Prof R P Sharma, Dr Romesh Kumar Kaith, R R Raina, Parbhat Kapahi, Vivek Bandral, Sunit Sharma, Subash, Pt Parshotam, Pt Brijmohan Sharma, Pt Om Parkash, Pt Rampal, Pt Balwant Shastri, Vimal Khajuria, Sat Paul, Pawan, Deepu, Rinku, Makhnu,Jivan, Bushan, Sonali, Renu, Anju, Sheetal, Sonika, Sukeshni, Rita Salathia, Rekha, Harbans Lal, Surjeet Singh, Parshotam Sharma, Ram Paul Sharma, Jagjeet Chand, Sahil Sharma, Pt Babu Bishambar Lal, Reeta Salathia, Raj Kumari, Leela Devi, Sheetal, Rajani, Shobha, Nisha and Sonika.
Tawi Andolan President Chander Mohan Sharma also paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose during a function. Surinder Sharma Corporator, Balwinder Singh Bhatia, Veena Bakshi, Sunita Kundal, Subhash Shastri, Ramesh Chander Sharma, Sushpaul Singh, Ravi Sharma, Rajesh Bargotra, Ram Prasad, Santosh Kundal and Sanjay Bakshi also paid tributes to Netaji.
Interaction Forum Jammu Province (IFJP) organised a seminar on ‘Ideals and Struggle of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Freedom Movement of India’ which was presided over by B S Jamwal, Chairman IFJP. Those who spoke on the occasion included Capt Lalit Sharma, Adv Usman Slaria, C M Sharma, Ashok Sharma, Dr Y P Sawhney and Dr Y P Sharma while B L Sharma, Treasurer extended vote of thanks. Others present on the occasion included Naresh Chander Sharma, Balwant Singh, Dharam Singh, H M Khajuria, Mehta Parshotam, Yash Paul Sharma, B L Abrol, Khilari Lal Kouran, Abrar Ahmed Khan, Rajeev Jandial, Sanjay K Jandial, Arun Sharma, Arjun Sharma and Nakul Sharma
A tribute ceremony was organised by Satwari Mandal of Gandhi Nagar Constituency, during which BJP senior leader Baldev Singh Billawaria was the Chief Guest and paid tributes to great soul. Jyoti Prakash Sharma, Ranjit Singh, Rakesh Sangral, Abhinandan Sharma, Om Nath, Mulkh Raj, Sunny Sharma, Aditya Sharma, Sahil Jamwal, Kawaljeet Singh, Bhanu Pratap, Digvijay Singh and other BJP activists were also present on the occasion.
Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu celebrated 125th birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose as Parakram Diwas. Director Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan J&K and Ladakh UTs, Bikram Singh Gill was the Chief Guest and highlighted Netaji’s contributions in Indian freedom struggle. Others present on the occasion included Nissar Ahmed Butt (District Youth Officer, NYK Jammu); Tejaswar Singh ASO State Office NYKS; Tilak Raj Sharma (Sr.Lecturer & President Mallah Youth Club) and Gurneet Singh (Act.NYK Jammu). Meanwhile, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jammu also organised various events like essay competition, quiz competition, Painting competition, Cultural programmes, Declamation Contest, Padh Yatra, Cyclathon etc in different blocks of Jammu and Samba districts.
