12 drug peddlers arrested across J&K; contraband including 20 Kg Ganja, cash recovered

JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Acting tough against drug dealings, Police on Saturday nabbed 12 drug peddlers in separate operations at Jammu and Srinagar province and recovered contraband substance from their possession besides, cash amounting to Rs 7,750.
As per details, Akhnoor Police during routine Naka checking at old bridge Akhnoor, intercepted a motorcycle (JK02CE/9242) for checking. During frisking, 35 gram Charas like narcotic substance was recovered from possession of two persons, who were identified as Rohit Singh, son of Mukhtyar Singh, resident of Ward No 12 Supply Mohalla Akhnoor and Hira Singh, son of Amrik Singh, resident of Ram Talai Mohalla Akhnoor. Subsequently, a case vide FIR No. 07/2021 under Sections 8, 20 & 29 of NDPS Act was registered against them at Police Station Akhnoor. The recovery was made by police team of Police Station Akhnoor under supervision of SHO Ravi Singh Parihar.
At Kathua, Anti-Drug Unit along with a team of Police Station Kathua during special Naka checking, apprehended a person identified as Bodh Raj alias Bodhu, son of Balkar Chand, resident of Kullian, Kathua. During frisking, 6 gram heroin like substance was recovered from his possession. A case vide FIR No. 10/2021 under Sections 8, 20 & 29 of NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Kathua.
In another incident, a team of Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Insp Deepak Pathania, while on Naka duty, rounded up three suspects namely Dalabehera Mittu, son of Dalabehera Anand, resident of Village Dharampur Distt Ganjam (Orissa); Ambagambu Jayadev Dora, son of Ambagambu Agadhu Dora, resident of Village Kansmari, Distt Ganjan (Orissa) and Sonu Kumar, son of Late Dukhi Mehra, resident of Ward No. 7 Bhaluahi Arazi Distt Madhepura (Bihar), from an auto, who tried to run away on seeing Naka. Police subjugated their attempt and on search, 20 Kg Ganja was recovered from their possession. The trio was arrested and a case vide FIR No. 13/20 under Sections 8, 20 & 29 of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort.
Meanwhile, officers at a checkpoint established at Laisoo crossing area of Police Station DH Pora intercepted a vehicle bearing (DL3C-AK1304) with two persons onboard. They were identified as Jahangir Ahmad Das and Mohammad Saleem Das, both residents of Waghama Bijbehara. During checking, officers were able to recover 1.5 Kg of Charas like substance from their possession. Officers also seized cash amounting to Rs 7,750 from them. They were arrested on the spot and shifted to Police Station DH Pora where they remained under custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 03/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station D H Pora and further investigation has been initiated.
In Srinagar, officers at a checkpoint established at New Bypass near Peaks Automobiles intercepted a vehicle (JK05D-1382) with two persons onboard. They were identified as Latief Ahmad Mir and Firdous Ahmad Teli, residents of Jahama Budgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 16 grams of brown Sugar like substance from their possession. They were arrested and shifted to Police Station Nowgam where they remained under custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
In this connection, a vide case FIR No. 01/2021 under relevant sections of law registered at Police Station Nowgam and further investigation has been initiated.
In Awantipora, Police party from Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Doninara Crossing near Grid Station Pampore intercepted two persons identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar resident of Namblabal Pampore and Adil Ahmad Bhat resident of Litterbal Pampore. During checking, officers were able to recover 80 Kg of Poppy Straw from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Pampore where they remained under custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 03/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.
