12 Bn BSF organises volleyball tournament

JAMMU: To inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship in youth of this border belt and also to promote different types of sports among them, the 12 Bn of Border Security Force (BSF) organized a Super League Volleyball Tournament at Gajansoo here on Sunday under Civic Action Programme.
A total of eight teams participated in the tournament include Panchayats Gajansoo, Gangochak, Galwaday, Karloop, Nai Basti, Souhagni , Jaswan and Dhatyeral.
The tournament was inaugurated by Commandant BSF 12 Bn Chic neck border Dibagh Singh in presence of former minister and ex-MLA Marh Sukhandan Choudhary and DDC Marh Balbir Lal.
Matches were played among eight teams on round robin league basis to select the best two teams for final and then the mega final match was played between Panchyat Souhagani and Panchyat Jaswan.
In the final match, Souhagani Panchyat defeated Jaswan Panchyat in 3-1 sets and clinched the overall championship trophy.
Dilbagh Singh, Sukhnandan Choudhary and Balbir Lal distributed medals and prizes to all finalists and overall championship trophy to Panchyat Soughani team. All the eight participating teams were provided a volleyball and a net (each team) on complimentary basis by the Border Security Force.
During media interaction, Ch. Sukhnandan said that BSF is intend to organise this tournament annually to promote the rural sport persons of border belt of Jammu District.
He also asserted that people of the rural area are highly grateful to the Border Security Force to organize such events in this border belt which inculcate sports values among the masses and hope that in future such events will also organized.
Sarpanch Advocate Daljit Singh, Sarpanch Tilak Raj, Sarpanch Vikramjeet Singh, Sarpanch Parshotam Sharma, Sarpanch Lazy Devi, Sarpanch Harjeet Singh and prominent people of the area were also present on the occasion.
